Mayor Ross Siemens is inviting Abbotsford elementary children in grades K-5 to take part in a contest to design the annual Christmas card.

Every year Mayor and Council send out many electronic Christmas cards across the city and province. Adding children’s artwork to the card adds an extra element of cheer. Elementary students from across the city are encouraged to create and submit a festive Christmas drawing that could be selected for the cover of the Mayor’s official 2024 Christmas card.

Fraser Health has provided a comprehensive list of dental resources for the 2024/2025 school year. 

The following programs are available for families who may not have private dental insurance but may qualify for support:

Update on Avian Influenza (H5)

A presumptive case of avian influenza has been reported in the Fraser Health region. While this may be concerning, please rest assured that student and staff safety remains our top priority. There are no confirmed cases within our district schools. Fraser Health, BC’s Chief Veterinarian, and the Ministry of Health are monitoring the situation closely and confirm no known exposure in schools.

Preventative Tips:

Sema:th families are invited to our Christmas concert "North Pole Musical" presented by our students at the Abbotsford Arts Centre. There will be an evening performance at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024.
No tickets required. 

*Please note that students are required to be dropped off at the Abbotsford Arts Centre at 6:30 pm on this evening.

We are raising funds to help support our Grade 5 Camp in June. Need some stocking stuffers or hostess gifts this holiday season? Purdys chocolates are always a great idea! The chocolates are the same price as you will find in stores, but 25% of the sales come back to our school.

Please make sure that your child has appropriate outerwear for our Winter weather.

Students go outside in the morning and at recess and lunch time even when it’s raining, snowing, windy or cold. Please make sure that they come to school with a warm jacket and proper footwear (perhaps boots), and remember to send mitts and toques as well. We also recommend a spare set of clothes in a labelled bag be left at school.

Save the Date 

On Thursday, December 19th, all students will have the opportunity to shop in the Sema:th Christmas Store in the multi-purpose room for gifts for their loved ones.

Requesting Donations

We are looking for donations of new and/or gently used items to stock our store. No movies and no books please. We need gifts for children, moms and dads! Please drop donated items off in the multi-purpose room 101. As well, gift bags, tags, bows & tissue paper donations would be greatly appreciated.
