To Our Canadian Soldiers

April 4, 2022

Last November, in honouring our soldiers and veterans during Remembrance Day each year,  Mrs. Tryon's class, on behalf of our school, designed a thank you card for our Canadian Troops. These were the troops who helped out in the flooding and Heat Domes that affected many communities in BC and across Canada in 2021.  Unfortunately, on November 15, our beloved school was evacuated as the waters rose in the Sumas Prairie Flood of 2021, and our thank you card was left behind.

When we were finally able to come back into the school several weeks later to reclaim personal items--sitting on a table, undamaged, was our CARD!  Mr. Chan was able to identify some of the Canadian soldiers who came to support Sumas Prairie families during the aftermath of the flood, and we were able to send out our card of thanks.

Please click on the attachments for what Mr. Chan wrote to the Commanding Officer of the Maritime Forces - Pacific Fleet to say thank you on behalf of Upper Sumas families, and the response from Rear Admiral Angus Topshee.
